The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has always shared a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with Taiwan. In fact, Pennsylvania and Taiwan trade more than $1.1 billion U.S. dollars in goods every year. We are proud to be home of the US operations of Taiwanese companies like Crystal Window and Door Systems, FriendWell, Hon Hai, and Fusheng that continue to invest and create jobs in our commonwealth. I have personally visited Taiwan on business trade missions three times over the past seven years, so I have experienced firsthand our shared values and the dynamism of Taiwanese businesses.

We are excited to be reinvigorating our relationship with Taiwan by opening our new Authorized Trade and Investment office in Taipei. Through the Pennsylvania Office of International Business Development in Harrisburg and our representative office in Taiwan, we are looking forward to continuing to build connections and strengthen our bond with Taiwan in the years ahead. I know that Pennsylvania has the strategic northeast U.S. location, world-class workforce and education system, and excellent quality of life that Taiwanese companies are looking for when making investment decisions.
